    Since 1987 he is interested in giant pandas. Jeroen is the founder of and patron of the eponymous award. For the fifth time he organizes the award ceremony for panda protection work in China and abroad.   • Prof. Zhang Hemin, “Panda Dad” for Lifetime Achievement, (China)
    He is known as the daddy of the Giant Pandas and since 2001 head of the Wolong Nature Reserve Administration. He studied biology at the University of Sichuan in 1983, when the Giant Pandas faced a food crisis. The bamboo flourished in many areas and died. Dr. Zhang immediately took care of the problem, set off for Wolong and started to rescue hungry Giant Pandas. At that time, there were only 10 Giant Pandas in the area. Dr. Today, Zhang Hemin is one of the key people to carry out the program to reintroduce the Giant Pandas into the wild in China.
